Three words: Build-A-Biscuit. Are you kidding? Yes, PLEASE. It’s a perfect casual, place for brunch with big, bright windows overlooking Bowery. The first floor houses the bakery with options from monkey bread (above) to chocolate chip cookies to a Louie Gooey that you need to find out about. The bar upstairs is surrounded by a huge tree making you think you could possibly be outside since the sunlight shines straight through the windows highlighting the clean, white wood fixtures and tables. There are big booths and communal tables perfect for big parties (you can make reservations in advance for parties of 6 or more). The crowd is young and a majority are hungover sucking down bloody mary’s and mimosas and building some biscuits. The food truly delivers, and what else could you ask for on a menu filled with fluffy eggs, grilled cheese, crisp fries and even a Peels Sundae with chocolate sauce, pretzels, peanuts and ice cream. The service might be spotty because everyone working here rather be brunching with their own friends, but regardless Peels is a lively corner spot that’s always going to be popular. Lets face it, you really don’t need to go anywhere else for brunch.
