Doughboy Bake Shop is one of the newest bakeries to hit the streets this fall. Its name and decor are military-themed displaying medals, old photos of soldiers and cast-iron army men. The friendly, sugar-high staff, wide windows and bar stool seating makes this bakery welcoming and a peaceful place to get work done if needed. The rich, fudge-like and extremely moist brownie tickles your taste buds with love. It provides a perfect, homemade consistency. On the other hand, the peanut butter pound cake kills it! Peanut butter cookies, truffles and cupcakes are everywhere, but I’ve never seen or tasted a peanut butter dessert like this before. The cake domes and glass cases overflowing with pies and fluffy cupcakes make Doughboy Bake Shop an inviting West Village spot that’s here to stay.
***Owner Alison Nelson also owns Chocolate Bar down the street at Jane and 8th Ave.
