Bin on Bleecker (formally known as Bar’rique) just rebranded with a new name and menu makeover about a month and a half ago. The food offerings are the same trendy small plates as every other West Village hot spot except this restaurant has almost no wait! You can get your standard truffled white bean crostinis, meatballs, braised beef short ribs, brussels sprouts, etc. The octopus is so tender you might be mistaken that you’re devouring halibut, and the cauliflower is so creamy and dense that you might as well be eating Mac ‘n Cheese. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgable and playful. If you’re lucky enough, the bartender will even top off your wine once you hang around for a bit. It’s beer and wine only, and although the wine is great, the list is missing the simplest option of a Pinot Grigio.
Bin on Bleecker appeals to wandering tourists and locals looking for a casual, spontaneous and low-hyped night out. Heck, they are even showing Food Network’s Giada De Laurentiis up on the TV screen, and you can hear Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville hit while kicking back. Come to Bin on Bleecker when you don’t want to mess with the two-hour wait at other celebrity chef or overly publicized restaurants!
