The Franks have brought their beloved casual Italian fare to the West Village with the recent opening of Frankies 570. The new space is decked out in wood (ceilings, tables, floors) and feels more open and social than the brick encompassed location in the Lower East Side. It’s a fresh, feel good environment. It’s one of those rare establishments fit for celebs and regulars where you can make the experience your own: you can dress up or dress down and still feel comfortable. The menu at Frankies 570 surpasses any expectations and is everything you’d ever wish and hope for at an Italian ristorante. From sandwiches to grilled calamari to pappardelle with lamb ragu, this restaurant is solid. The salads are shining stars, the pastas are fluffy and the seafood is superb. After hearing raving reviews about the meatballs, I was underwhelmed and think The Meatball Shop and Rubirosa’s heartier recipes win this battle. Make sure to specify if you want certain courses as an appetizer or entree or they will speedily deliver dishes all at once, cramping your dining time. Spend the night socializing at the bar or enjoying a nice wholesome meal for a reasonable price. The West Village is lucky to welcome Frankies 570 into their ‘hood!
***Other locations include: Frankies 17 in the LES and Frankies 470 in Caroll Gardens. FYI these restaurants are unrelated to the other Frank clan in the East Village: Frank, Lil Frankie’s, Supper and Sauce.
