Knowing that the chef came from Mario Batali’s Greenwich Village restaurant Lupa, my expectations were pretty high, especially after sitting down to find out “Spasso” means “entertainment” in Italian.  Staff is accommodating and playful. The food really “knocks your socks off “- the Amberjack in particular -and sharing is the way to go. There is an underground wine cellar with 150 Italian labels, but don’t pass up the seasonal cocktails- especially the one with basil. This “trendy without trying” West Village, corner hot spot will impress everyone of all ages. So take that girl you randomly met on the subway here or take your parents for a memorable New York City dining experience.

  • LOVED this place! I actually called mid-afternoon on a Saturday and made a reservation for 9 people that same night at 9:15! I got the Fusilli, spicy pork ragu, goat cheese, mint – by far one of the best pastas I’ve had in the city— up there with Babbo, which is saying a lot! Definitely recommend it!
